EVRC-BEVRC-B is defined in 3GPP2 C.S0014-B: Enhanced Variable Rate Codec, Speech Service Option 68 for Wideband Spread Spectrum Digital Systems.EVRC-B communicates at channel rates corresponding to 9600, 4800, 2400 and 1200 bps frame rates. The speech coder source bit rates corresponding to these channel rates are full rate (8.5 kbps), half rate (4 kbps), quarter rate (2 kbps) and eighth rate (800 bps). Similar to EVRC-A, EVRC-B operates at these different bit rates depending on the source signal. However, it has the additional feature of being capable of operating at multiple average rates or capacity operating points depending of channel capacity. Widely used for cellular telephony in CDMA networks, it also has applications in VoIP. For licensing IPR, please contact licensing@voiceage.com.
